diagrams as learning machines

 

This selection of pencil on paper, diagrammatic drawings were produced in the context of an art practice-based Masters in Research entitled Becoming Diagrammatic: In what ways does conceptual art praxis meet post-continental philosophy in drawing the imagethought?

 

They are understood to be ‘learning machines’ in that they serve an explicitly heuristic purpose in mapping, memorising and navigating knowledge. In this sense, they are non-art images.
